With effect from October 19, 2023, Koch-Chemie GmbH became the new owner of Lederzentrum GmbH. The transition phase, which will last until the third quarter of 2024, was already reported in this context. Together with the previous owners, all measures for a successful integration were thoroughly analyzed and planned.
From October 2024, the business processes of Lederzentrum GmbH will be integrated at the Koch-Chemie GmbH site in Unna. Accordingly, products and services will be developed, produced and delivered from Unna.
With this blogpost, we would like to answer frequently asked questions in this context.
Can Koch-Chemie produce and supply the Colourlock products in consistent quality?
Together with Research & Development, we analyzed the Colourlock formulations and designed the corresponding work plans for our production processes. During the transition phase, some recipes were already produced in Unna in order to gain experience and optimize processes. Additional capacity has been created in both production and storage with filling lines and storage areas.
What will the Colourlock products look like in the future?
The product design of the Colourlock products has been adapted to the corporate identity of Koch-Chemie. Standard containers have been defined in the various sizes required, so that in future the Colourlock products will be filled in the white, rounded bottles that Koch-Chemie customers have known for years. The label design was also adapted to the idea of the product system with color stripes and abbreviations.
The Allround Textile Sealant, the first Colourlock product in the new design, was launched in July. This textile sealant was developed, produced and designed in Unna. It is a first example of how the competencies complement each other and how joint growth is possible.
How is product advice ensured?
During the entire transition phase, there was a lively exchange of knowledge between Koch-Chemie and Lederzentrum. Both the sales force and the application technology with trainers in Germany and the USA were trained in the Colourlock and KCX products. The Koch-Chemie sales force has also been selling Colourlock products since March of this year and is thus gaining further experience on a daily basis.
The customer service teams in Unna have been jointly expanded so that even the very complex queries relating to the Colourlock portfolio can be answered.
Is Koch-Chemie able to reproduce the color mixing competency?
A color mixing department is integrated in Unna. With the help of state-of-the-art equipment and trained personnel, the individual color inquiries of customers will also be served in the future.
